If there’s one thing that can be said about the wines of Tenuta Pederzana, it’s that they’re classic. Franco Simonini actually worked with the University of Bologna to identify the best clone of Grasparossa (the local Lambrusco varietal), now known as Grasparossa di Castelvetro. With picture-perfect vineyard placement and exposure, the fruit here benefits from excellent sunlight during the day and cool breezes during the evening. The resulting wines offer an amazingly rich and complex nose with violets, dark chocolate, plums, and black cherry with undertones of wallflowers, cinnamon, and graphite. Fresh and full on the palate with a gentle fizz, and long juicy finish.
