It's always a risky endeavor to feature a Riesling as many folks harbor preconceived notions about this most noble of varieties. Often (and sometimes justifiably) accused of being sweet, it can be difficult to try a dry Riesling with a truly open mind. I implore you to do so in this case! For starters, we are in Kremstal, Austria, not Germany, and the Austrians tend towards a dryer style which Brundlmayer presents with the highest of definition. Snappy acids penetrate the white peach and green apple fruits offering focus and balance to the wine. There are no "petrol" notes here but rather a more refined river-stone nuance that accents without overpowering the lovely and delicate fruit. The Kaiserstiege bottling lists in the high-teens to low-twenties in other U.S. markets, but as our stash is directly imported into Massachusetts, you will be getting your club discount off of fifteen bucks.
